Status rationale for Larnax psilophyta: A shrub endemic to Ecuador's southern Andes, where it is known from two collections in high-elevation forest and paramo. One population is at the Nudo de Sabanilla, near the road to Yangana-Valladolid; the other is from an undetermined locale of Zamora-Chinchipe province. Not known to occur inside Ecuador's protected areas network, but may occur in similar habitats inside the Parque Nacional Podocarpus. No specimens of this species are housed in Ecuadorean museums. Apart from habitat destruction, no specific threats are known.
